Koenma - son of King Enma, had been put in charge of his father's palace and job while Enma was away. Both Hiei and Gōki were happy with the terms and the heist was on. On the condition he got to keep the mirror and neither Hiei or Gōki interfered in his or his mother's lives after the heist, Kurama agreed. Kurama no longer had any desire for such a capper, until Hiei pointed out they would each take one treasure of their choice from the vault, on that list was the Forlorn Hope - a mystical hand-held mirror Kurama had great need of. In addition to a sadistic demon named Gōki as the muscle of the job, Hiei had managed to track down Kurama and wanted the great Yoko-Kurama, who had first-hand experience stealing from King Enma's vault in the past as his stealth expert. Hiei, was planning a theft of King Enma's vault while he was away and wanted a small efficient crew for the heist. One night, Shūichi was contacted by a demon named Hiei. He did not want to leave until she was recovered, but as the nerve damage stuck with her for well over a decade, Kurama spent that time growing attached to her, and viewing her as a traditional mother. Seeing the selflessness of the woman who birthed him was a sobering experience for Kurama. Shiori experience major nerve damage but she was just grateful her son was safe. Shūichi was safe, although he notes he would have been fine either-way as his body was imbued with demonic properties at that point and a simple fall would have been nothing to him, but the fall had broken some plates which cut Shiori's arms as she caught him. Shiori saw Shūichi fall and went to save him. While trying to get some treats, Shūchi fell. Shortly after growing out of his toddler stage, he was fully aware of who he was, where he was, what had happened, and how to sneak away, however, something happened in Shūichi's toddler years. Though Shūichi was aware of his past life, he was still possessing a human brain and took a few years of infancy to become fully sentient. Kurama possessed the fetus gestating inside Shiori to reconstitute as a new body. Kurama sought out a newly pregnant human female, the one he happened upon first was named Shiori Minamino. Yoko Kurama was gravily injured and could not make it back to Demon World, so he slipped down to human world to lose his pursuers, in an effort to both get a chance to recover and remain unnoticed even after he was recovered, Kurama broke down what was left of his physical form and converted it to raw energy to carry with his soul. One day he was nearly killed by one of Spirit World's elite agents when his crew was caught in an attempted robbery of Spirit World ruler, King Enma. In his previous life he was "Yoko Kurama", leader of an infamous band of bandits in the Demon World. Kurama is a reincarnated Kitsune (A trickster fox-spirit).
